Main Settlements

Muzayri is Liwa’s main economic settlement and the geographical centre of the Liwa Oasis. 

Traditionally, housing in Liwa relied heavily on date palms. It therefore determined the dimensions of the houses, which were invariably rectangular and box-like. There were few windows with gaps filtering in sunlight and any precious breeze there was. The walls and ceilings were made of palm fronds tied together in mats.  

At Qasr Al Sarab you will see this technique echoed in the ceilings of your residences.
