Liwa Oasis

In an arched-shaped stretch of more than 150 kilometers from east to west, Liwa Oasis is a belt of some 50 villages and farms, with the Muzayri as its centre. 

With deep significance to our people, the oasis is the birth place of the ruling families of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It was in 1793 that the ruling family Al Nahyan moved their residence from Liwa to the city of Abu Dhabi, the nation’s capital.
