Ghaf Tree

The Liwa desert is home to the ghaf tree, which has roots that extend 30 metres below the ground to secure sources of water. The ghaf tree has withstood the harsh arid conditions and earned the respect of local farmers when they discovered the trees helped improve grain yield.
